You’re a mess!

You’re a mess! But, so am I… Hopefully this will sort us both out.

Why?

Sticky Situation is a project to reconnect with the land I came from. Sourcing materials from the farm my family keeps is a powerful way to stay connected to them. This is a project not a business, a tool to meet new people and share a small part of the beauty of upstate in the mad city.

Where?

Frost Farms

Like Christopher Robin I had a 100 acres to traipse. Enough space to keep my father busy and a tool for him to pass along his knowledge of conservatorship.

Inspiration

My mother’s kindness knows no bounds. She made the wild valley my father tamed a home. All my products are Ethel (and Eugene, that’s dad) approved.

Creativity

My eldest sister is an artist and shares her passion with the children she teaches. She is an ambassador of creativity and this project is definitely born of Amy’s craftiness rubbing off on me.

Knowledge

My middle sister is a librarian, her ability to captivate the imagination through sharing her love of the written word is unparalleled. My benchmark for researching recipes and materials for this project was to meet the standards Dr. Frost would expect.

Bees

Amy married an apiarist and together they have a few million bees to keep them busy. The wax and honey in these products all comes from the labor of the bees Ward keeps.

Future

I never thought I liked kids, then I met my nephew, Alden. He helps his father with the bees. His wonder at discovery serves as a reminder to keep trying new things. This project for example.

Friends

Support, Guinea pigs, rollers of eyes at how overly sentimental this website is, patient listeners to whatever boondoggle I’m currently on about (This one for example)

Dedication

This project was made possible by two special ladies. Christine Pratt who convinced me my product was good enough and Laura Coughlin who came up with the name.
